For a link, start a blank email, put one webpage URL alone in the subject, and send it to your @read.steepd.app address. It appears in Saved.
Books work the same way — attach the EPUB to an email to your @read.steepd.app address.
Setup
You get an address to email things to, and a feed address. Type the feed into your reader once. No app, no plugin, no cable.
Forward a newsletter, put one webpage URL alone in the email subject, or attach an EPUB.
You can also upload books and save article links from your account page.
EPUB attached means book. A lone subject URL means Saved article. Anything else means newsletter.
Star and delete from your reader
Choose a book or article in the catalogue and your reader shows a short menu: download it, star it, or delete it from Steepd. Starred items get their own shelf, so the ones you mean to read are easy to find again.
A deleted item goes to Trash on the website and stays there for 7 days, so you can restore it if you deleted the wrong one.
Turn it on from your account page. It is tested with the CrossPoint firmware.
Newsletters and webpages that read like articles
Steepd pulls the readable part from public webpages and flattens the nested tables in email newsletters. It keeps tables holding real data, drops tracking pixels, and stores images in the file so everything works offline.
It can also group your newsletters by publication, so your reader shows one shelf for each. This is off until you turn it on. When it is on, the text of each newsletter is sent to a model provider to identify the publication, and you can correct anything it gets wrong. Saved webpages are grouped by the site they came from.
Pricing
Free for now: 100 MB of storage, and each item is kept for 90 days.
Will it work on mine?
Steepd is an OPDS catalogue — a standard most e‑readers already speak. Think of it as an RSS feed for books: your reader browses it over wifi and downloads what you pick. Nothing to install.
The test: open your reader's menu and look for OPDS, Catalog, Library, or anywhere you can add a catalogue by URL. If that exists, Steepd works.
Tested
Xteink X4 Pro on stock CrossPoint firmware — no sideloading, and a strict parser that rejects malformed feeds. The hardest case.
Has OPDS built in
KOReader, which runs on Kindle, Kobo, PocketBook, Boox and Android. Also PocketBook and Onyx firmware directly.
